Soo the past two days have been really hard on me. Saturday Morning at 6am I was informed about a fatal car accident that happened in my hometown of Campbellsport. This crash involved 9 girls from which I went to high school with and some of which I was close to. The accident took place on Beechnut road right next to our school, this road of which contains a lot of hills,at around 3:30 in the morning the driver was speeding and the car got airborn and lost control the car rolled many times and 6 of the girls were ejected from the car and flown into a field. The driver then called police. Unfortunetly 2 of the girls died at the scene, beautiful Caitlin Scannel and Sabrina Stahl. My good friend Katie Berg was takin by flight for life to childrens hospital since she was critically injured. My mom and her mom are best friends which is why this is so sad for me because me and Katie grew up together. Being the good friend my mother is she went to the bergs house early that morning and just stayed at there house while Katies parents went to the hospital to be there with her so I kept getting sad updates all day. I burst in tears that day when I got the phone call from my mom that after noon saying that katie went brain dead and passed away :( My heart felt like it had been broken feeling the pain of what that family must be going through losing there only little girl just 16 and so young, not to mention there oldest son who has had cancer for the past couple years and all the stress and amount of time they've had to spend in hospitals for that, and they had just found out that Jake was finally cancer free. And now this happening just made everything so devastating once again. I happened to be in La Crosse that day at our schools state dance competition, and I was just crying that entire day. What was really hard was seeing all my friends on the team and not being able to tell them what happened because we decided it was best to wait until all there routines were done and awards were over to tell them. So after they won state and got 1st in there hip hop routine ( this will be the fourth time :) I was on the team for two of them) and got 3rd in pom we filed all the girls and campbellsport parents and friends into a room and the athletic directer gave them the news of the 3 deaths and about the other 6 who were in bad condition as well including Jesse Harbin, Allie Adams, Theresa Flood, Kassie Anderson, Haley Fricke and Carly Ottery. The horrible news hit everyone like a ton of bricks, all the girls burst into tears some screaming and hitting the floor. Sitting behind me was my friend Kara (whose mom and dad were first responders to the accident which Im sure was just terrible to see your daughters best friends in that condition) and Emily who we call EJ two of which were Caitlin and Katies best friends and just sitting by them and seeing there reaction just broke my heart to see the pain and suffering they were feeling not to mention some anger for keeping this from them all day. There was just not a dry eye in the room, it was one of the worst hours of my life being in the moment and having to hear and watch that. When I went home that night and got to talk to my mom who had been at the bergs all day. She said the hardest thing to do was when Bonnie called and told her to go in katies room and get all the girls duffel bags and cell phones out of her room because theres no way she could have done it. My mom said she was shaking and just picking up certain bags thinking this is Caitlins she said was really sad. Out of the three that died I was probably closest with Katie. Like I said our parents are best friends and me her brother Luke were in the same class, and we both grew up with brothers who had disability's, so we just always were very close. Theres not a summer memory I have that doesnt involve her, we would always go over to there house at least 3 times during the week swimming in there pool and just relaxing or playing games in the yard, me and katie would do cartwheels on golf course across the street from them, or make up cheers or just sing and dance all the time, she was like a little sister to me and my family. She was the most free spirit person with the most energy all the time! When Katie died her heart was transplanted to a little 9 year old boy, so while she died he got to live and he is lucky to have the heart of such an incredible girl! She could always make you laugh and she had such a love for God and now she gets to be with him for eternity.

| Me and my little cousin Joey with Katie, she always used to babysit for him in the Summer because they live right across the street from her, and those kids have just as much energy as her so they were so good with each other I know he misses her. |
 |
| This is at my house for my brothers birthday. Our brothers were such good friends and Katie was such a good sister to Jake and Luke, she was always willing to help when ever needed and kept there spirits high. |
|
Then there's Caitlin, we weren't as close as I was with Katie, but she was just such a sweetheart and the kindest human being you would ever meet! She would still always give me a hug when I saw her and always talk to me and she was just so cute and nice that its just so sad that this had to happen to such an innocent sweet girl. She has such a wonderful caring family who love her so much and if you'd ask anyone they would tell you that Caitlin was nicest person ever she would not hurt a fly. I can not say enough good things about this girl she was such an angel, and now she truly is.

| We took this picture the night of the home coming game just a couple months ago, Im going to miss that smile of hers. |

| This was one of my favorite memories with her, and her two best friends EJ and Kara who were in dance with me. We took this picture at our student council confrence in appleton one day my senior year, the four of us snuck off and were just roaming the hotel that are meetings were being held at. I remember we found an escalator and just rode up and down until we got kicked off lol Caitlin thought we were so rebellious for doing that but we laughed so hard then we went and took pictures on this bridge that went over the street and just took pictures and came back before anyone knew we were gone, quite the fun day. |
Now as for Sabrina I didnt really know her too well she was a freshman this year so I was never in high school with her, but from what I did know, she was the cutest little girl ever and so sweet and funny and just loved by many!
I think about these girls everyday, so many thoughts and questions go through my mind, and its killing me to see them go after all this time, and they were so young and had so much left to do. This tragedy has really taken its toll on our small little town of Campbellsport, we have all come together just to be there for the families and for one another. We know God had a plan for all of them and they were together in that car for a reason and even though it was a tough way to go, it was a wake up call for the rest of us that life is short and you really do need to tell those you love that you love them now and not wait because just like that they could be gone in a blink of an eye, and to always wear your seat belts! because maybe if some of these girls would have been wearing them things wouldn't have had to end this badly, but it just teaches the rest of us how important it is to be safe. These three Beautiful girls are with God and my friend Tyler who we lost to a car accident two years ago now. And I know there shining down upon us and helping the other girls involved to heal and helping the rest of us to mourn with there lost and to remember the good times in there lives and to know we will see them again some day soon, until then they will forever be in our hearts forever and ever <3

Beautiful post Abby. You have such a good outlook on all of this, even though it's hard. I love what you said about all the girls, it really shows how wonderful they were.
